Calamus can relieve drunkenness, relieve thirst and hunger. Take 10 to 15 grams of this herb and decoct it for consumption. If you want to prevent drunkenness, you can use the decoction as tea. It treats excessive drinking, vomiting of phlegm, headache, restlessness, distension of the chest and abdomen, tremors of the hands and feet, difficulty in urination, and diarrhea. It is treated with Calamus Relief Delirium Decoction (from “Lan Shi Mi Zang”). 1.5 grams of Sandalwood, 4.5 grams of Ginseng, 4.5 grams of Poria, 4.5 grams of Polyporus, 4.5 grams of Dried Orange Peel, 6 grams of Atractylodes, 6 grams of Ginger, 6 grams of Rice Flour, 6 grams of Green Peel, 15 grams of Sande, 15 grams of Amomum, 15 grams of Cassia, 15 grams of Calamus. Decoct and consume. Calamus is the flower of the calamus plant, first recorded in “Sheng Yi Bie Lu”. It is cool in nature and sweet in taste, enters the spleen and stomach meridians, and can relieve alcohol intoxication and quench thirst.
Cardamom helps detoxify alcohol. The dosage is 3 to 10 grams. It should not be boiled for too long. It is often used in combination with other herbs such as amomum villosum, magnolia officinalis, and perilla. Cardamom was first recorded in “Shen Nong’s Classic of Materia Medica”. It is warm in nature and has an astringent taste. It enters the spleen and stomach meridians. It has the functions of drying dampness, promoting qi circulation, warming the center, and stopping vomiting. It is used to treat conditions such as dampness obstruction and qi stagnation, chest tightness and abdominal distension, stomach cold and abdominal pain, retained food, hiccups, and vomiting. “Compendium of Materia Medica” records its ability to detoxify alcohol.
Gao Liangjiang can relieve excessive drinking and cause coldness, nausea and vomiting. Take 10 to 15 grams of this herb and decoct it for consumption. If the coldness is severe, it can be used together with Ban Xia, Xiang Gen and Xiang Fu. Gao Liangjiang was first recorded in “Shengyi Taiblu” and has a pungent and warm flavor, entering the spleen and stomach meridians. It has the functions of dispelling cold and relieving pain, warming the center and stopping vomiting. “Da Ming Bencao” records its use in treating cramps and diarrhea, regurgitation and vomiting, eliminating alcohol toxicity, and eliminating indigestion.
Dianzhu Ya can relieve alcohol-induced heat, dizziness and thirst, and also treat urinary retention. You can use 30 to 50 grams of this herb, decocted and taken orally; or it can be mixed with chrysanthemum and mint for decoction and drunk as tea to prevent alcohol intoxication. Dianzhu Ya was first recorded in “Shen Nong’s Classic of Materia Medica”. It is cold in nature and sweet in taste, entering the meridians of heart, stomach and small intestine. It has the functions of clearing heat and relieving restlessness, and promoting urination. It can treat symptoms such as heat-induced thirst and mouth ulcers in febrile diseases.
Sandalwood can relieve vomiting and coldness caused by alcohol consumption. It can be used alone or in combination with other ingredients such as ginseng, ginger, fashi (a type of herb), and shecit (a type of fruit). To prevent alcohol poisoning, 3 to 5 grams of this product can be brewed into tea and consumed. Sandalwood was first recorded in “The Pharmacological Principles of Herbal Medicine”. It is warm in nature and pungent in flavor, and enters the meridians of the spleen, stomach, and kidney. It has the effects of warming the center and suppressing reverse flow, as well as warming the kidney and assisting yang. It is commonly used to treat vomiting caused by coldness in the stomach, hiccups, and symptoms of kidney deficiency and impotence. “The Great Ming Herbal” records its use in treating coldness and eliminating alcohol toxins.
Loquat root can relieve alcohol-induced heat, thirst, and nausea, and eliminate vomiting and diarrhea. You can use 30 to 60 grams of this herb, and decoct it for consumption. Or you can make a drink with loquat root: 15 grams of loquat root, 9 grams of bamboo茹, 50 grams of rice, 5 slices of ginger, and boil them in water. Drink it as tea. Loquat root was first recorded in “Shen Nong’s Herbal Classic”. It is cold in nature and sweet in flavor, entering the lung and stomach meridians. It has the functions of clearing heat, generating fluids, stopping vomiting, and promoting urination. It is used to treat symptoms such as heat-induced restlessness, stomach heat-induced vomiting and diarrhea, and lung heat-induced cough. “Newly Revised Herbal Classic” states that it can treat symptoms such as vomiting and loss of appetite, stomach heat, etc.
